The Montreal Expos (French: Les Expos de Montréal) were a Canadian expert baseball team based in Montreal, Quebec. The Expos were the first Major Organization Baseball (MLB) franchise business located outside the USA. They played in the National League (NL) East department from 1969 till 2004. Complying with the 2004 season, the franchise relocated to Washington, D.C., as well as became the Washington Nationals. Promptly after the minors Triple-A Montreal Royals folded in 1960, politicians in Montreal looked for an MLB franchise, and when the National Organization reviewed growth candidates for the 1969 period, it awarded a team to Montreal. Named after the Exposition 67 World s Fair, the Expos initially played at Jarry Park Arena prior to transferring to Olympic Stadium in 1977.
