In an interview with Gameinformer, Naughty Dog Co Presidents spoke mainly about the work processes, planned projects and dealing with criticism. Among other things, the shifting focus was addressed on live service games.
More and more studios are increasingly focusing on long-term Free-2 play titles. The conductors of the interview mentioned as an example Ubisoft, which in the future want to invest higher sums in free playable projects. Gameinformer therefore wanted to know if Naughty Dog will continue to set classic singleplayer experiences in the future.
Evan Wells has a clear opinion: because Story Games have a great importance for the developers, they would like to hold on as long as possible.
Stories tell is located in the DNA of Naughty Dog
Definitely. Yes, said Vice President. And it's quasi in our DNA to tell these stories. I think that will stay that way too. Single player experiences are very important to us. That's what many people lured to Naughty Dog, and that's what they are inspired. So I think that we will stick to it as long as we can.
Neil Printant added this statement that Sony Interactive Entertainment does not force the in-house studios to align their orientation due to current trends. Instead, the developers should work on projects that they inspire themselves and where they can practice their strengths.
Earlier, we have already reported that the developers would like to further expand the Uncharted and the The Last of Us franchise. New brands also play a role.
