The SSD Game Reader WD BLACK D30 is a versatile cash basket

There is never enough time to play all the games you want, do not you? And if it's true, it's too: there is never enough storage to contain all these games. Even though the current generation consoles occupy near a storage space terabyte, an AAA gambling handle can eat. The solution: more storage. Players have a lot of options, but the WD BLACK D30 should certainly be part of your list of contenders.

The WD BLACK D30 is a compact and attractive outer SSD that measures 4 x2. Its matte black housing, with a texture and a military appearance container lettering / shipping, proud look next to any console or PC. It connects via a USB a / USB cable included, although short. It also comes with a small support / support.

There are storage solutions that connect to the back of an Xbox Series X / S and connect to almost the same speed as the internal drive. The WD BLACK is more versatile. It can be used with any console or PC, so your storage needs change, the disc can be reformatted. To obtain the fastest play / write speeds — up to 900 Mb / s — with a PC or a Mac, the WD BLACK needs a USB 3.2, GEN 2 port, that old PCs may not have.

Although WD BLACK is a versatile drive, it has some warnings. He performs the latest generation XBOX / PS4 games as a champion, but can not run the current X / S or PS5 series games directly from the drive. It is thanks to the slight USB ports of the consoles, not the reader. It is also a bit slow when archiving games in both directions of the console to the reader. Furthermore, it may not be ideal if you are constantly changing game, at least if you are impatient.

At about $142 for version 1 terabyte, the WD BLACK D30 is an excellent storage solution for older games you want to always play, and / or as parking garage to help free space on your console. It is also a good versatile external drive for PC or Mac. It looks attractive and is solidly constructed, and executes older games without hooking. Furthermore, it has the advantage of being independent of the system, so you can move the extra space where you need it most.
